Welcome to Nonsuch Park Forest School - Nursery Lodge

Nonsuch Park Forest School is a private, small village Nursery School. Nursery Lodge has space for children who are confidently walking between the ages of 2 to 5 years old. Nonsuch Park Forest School is a safe and secure environment with access to beautiful woodland areas, and wonderful historic gardens where exploration and adventure can take place. Set in Nursery Lodge, Nonsuch Park, Nonsuch Park Forest School takes a holistic approach to learning by introducing children to outdoor wild play.

This is called forest school and its philosophy is to equip young children with an education that encourages an appreciation of the natural world, through regular visits to local woodland areas where hands on learning experiences can take place. We are registered with Ofsted Early Years and comply with the Children Act 1989 and 2004 regulations.

We have a wonderful large enclosed natural garden full of wildlife and a separate covered courtyard and area play area for the use of bikes, balls, and other outdoor equipment. In addition, we have an outside courtyard area where the children participate in learning how to plant, grow, and care for our living world within our nursery allotment. Children wear waterproof clothing, so they have free flow access to both gardens in all weathers and for use when learning outdoors in the surrounding parklands and woodlands.

We have two large main rooms for children of all ages to explore and investigate the resources and activities on offer, our home from home environment. The children are placed in one of our three learning groups, Rangers are our pre-school children aged 3 to rising 5. Little Explorers and Little Seekers are our younger children aged 2 to rising 3. We believe children should be able to move freely and learn from each other as they would do at home so when possible, with mixed age groups. We have a smaller ‘cosy room’ for story time, quiet play and sleeping for younger children and a further separate room for messy play.

The Nursery School welcomes children from all cultural and religious backgrounds. There is no selection procedure; children are accepted in order of registration. Children are required to attend a minimum of two full days. We operate an ‘open door policy’, whereby parents and carers are welcomed into the school any time to see what their children are doing and to help with daily activities both in the setting and out in the woodland.

We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm for 51 weeks of the year, we close for 1 week at Christmas.
